General My New HGT

General My New HGT

I agree, they sit too far out and look oversized. Your standard wheels are my favourite for the Bravo HGT. Cars looking good though (y)

What colour do you think I should refurb them in Adrian? Should I stick to the standard colour? Or something a little darker like the colour of the 16's?

I do really like the standard wheels, and I think the 15's are very well suited to the car, the only thing im not so keen on, is how far the standard wheels sit into the rear arches, has anybody have any experience spacing them out a few mil? Tbh I'm not really one for mucking around with spacers and slamming cars on their arse, but I also feel the car would benefit from a slight drop. As it seems to sit awfully hight especially at the back.

Could anybody recommend a good spring/suspension kit? I don't want the ride to be crashy at all, so as close to standard feel as I can get, I think a subtle 30mil drop front and rear would be just nice.

I really like light coloured wheels. I never understand why people get wheels painted black or very dark colours because it looks like nothing is there, it look like you have steel wheels on.

You could get some thin spacers to push the original wheels out a bit.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I'm going to keep them quite light Adrian as I know what your saying.

And thanks CFREITAS, yes it is a shame there a bit wide, I love the wheels but they just dont look/feel right. There far better suited to coupe so they will be going back on it.

Now people, can anybody recommend me a good set of tyres that are well suited to the car?

Many thanks.

Thanks james and gadge :)

James I've got a bit of debt to pay off first before buying suspension kits lol!
And gadge, the tyre profile was also on my mind, but I now have 2 sets of hgt wheels so I'll be sticking with them. I have alot in the pipeline for this one, but tomorrow it's going in the bodyshop, to have the bootlid dent removed and painted, the front bumper re-sprayed, with headlight washers removed, so just a bit of tidying up before mitcar on sunday :)

Look forward to seing some of you there.

Thanks mate, I'll keep them in mind. I've never being a fan of proxi's, in my experience there rubbish when pushed in anything other than bone dry!

Dropped the car off at the bodyshop yesterday, went over it with a fine tooth pick and decided on the following:
Rear boot dent removed
Front bumper re-sprayed
Head light washers removed, holes filled.
Drivers side wing dent removed
De-badged all over
Wheels refurbished

Not a huge difference, but will definatley tidy her up a bit :)

The car is now sitting back on it's standard wheels (big thanks james and joskeJTD) while the other set is being refurbished.

I'm picking the car up in the morning, looking forwards to seing the difference. Here's a few 'before pics'

Picked her up today, im chuffed with the results :)

Went streight to my tyre guy to have the newly refurbished wheels built up on some new rubber, I went for nexen (ditch finders) budget tyres as finances are tight right now. Regarding colour, I just went for the same colour as the plus wheels that were previously on the car, but a shade lighter. Ghost chrome on top of a dark gray base coat, they look great in the flesh, dont like them in the pics at all.

I love the arse end of the car, de-badging it has tidied it up nicley.

Not had a chance to clean the car with a busy work schedule, but more "clean" pics will be added after a pre mitcar clean tomorrow. :)

Ps... Some front bumper pics for ya Adrian ;)

Looking great, I like the bumper change and debaged boot a lot. I think the Mk2 HGT wheels are the best of the range.

Are your rear lights the same Mk? the passenger one looks like a lighter Mk1 and the drivers one is definatly the darker Mk2. Maybe its just the light hits in that picture since in older pictures they look the same.

Many thanks for the complements guys, the light's will have to do for now as I'm completely snapped, seriously if I spend 1 more penny on the car this month I'm gona be single and on streets! :D

Looking forward to seeing this at MITcar! Ill be bringing my old Metallic Heraldic Blue HGT spoiler if you want a spare, or know someone who does(y)

I'll look forwards to meeting and seing you there mate (y)

If I came back from that show with a spoiler my missus would kill me lol. Apriciate the offer, but like I say im completely snapped as it is, but I will ask around out of my friends that are coming.

hehe :D, one way to tell, take the passenger light off and check the PN or just look at the type of foam seal on the back but that can be changed.

Passenger rear light Mk1 PN is 7788151
Mk2 is 46538355

If its like the top pic its a Mk1 and if its like the bottom a Mk2
