i was wondering what it takes ti replace the 1.4 12v with a 1.6 16v engine for the bravo?

can anyone give me a headsup on what it requires ?

Changing a 1.4 to a 1.6 is not easy (it requires a completely different cable loom iirc). Swapping a 1.4 for a 1.2 (much more reliable engine) should be straightforward though.

I'm not so keen on the 1.2 anymore as in the last 5 year's I've had 2 1.2's, 1 Brava n now a bravo and both have had the head gasket go on me, the bravo one went yesterday 97miles from home!!!! Where as my uncle's 1.6 has been great ever since he turned the key 8 years ago, now thinking of a 1.8 swap but don't know how reliable it is but for me the 1.2 has to go really

I think you are being misinformed here... the 1.6 should be a much easier swap that a 1.2, especially if you can find an early donor car as the geraboxes, loom and engine ancilliaries should all be very similar to the 1.4. Both engines were based on the Tipo 1.4 / 1.6 bottom ends.

Of course finding a suitable old donor 1.6 may not be too easy but it should be doable with the right advice.

Okay, maybe I'm mixing things up in my head.

Ignore what I said then :p
