Hi i would really appreciate somebodys help... we bought a 2001 bravo a few weeks ago got it cheap as gear box had gone. it started fine when we got it. we replaced the gearbox with another broken one lol... then changed it again with a working one. since then it wont start... it tries but backfires from the inlet and makes a lot of noise... we have reset the timing twice and check all spark plug, leads and dis cap... they are all ok... im lost now dont know what else to so any ideas?? thanks

Are you sure its not the timing? That sounds suspiciously like the timing is out 180 degs... What engine?

yeah i hears what your both saying... its a 1242cc 16v 51 reg... how would you know if its 180 out how can i be sure thanks

also iv just been told by someone that it cant be timing out as the spark is blue and if the timing is out it would be yellow... not sure how acurate that is though lol

Simple to check, lock the cams and see what position the crank pulley is in. If the cut out is nowhere near the back of the engine its out
