Will chopping my airbox as they say or drilling it make my car grunt more also will it effect anything and cause problems much feedback appreciated thanks

Hi mate,

It will make it sound a bit louder. Wont give you any significant power gains. Make sure you only drill on the correct side of the air filter though.

idont think it has my cars on 61,000 miles is it due for a change

In that case yes it due. If its not ever been changed its WELL overdue on age as well.

Best to get it changed asap as if it snaps it could severely damage your engine.

Don't bother messing about with the airbox. First step is to check you can get the lid off because the bolts always seem to seize up in the bottom of the box. Then at least you can put a clean filter in.

Best straightforward improvement is a K&N panel filter with the standard airbox. You can then use the ECU reset procedure to let the engine learn the new characteristics.
