i know this seems to be a common question on here. I just buy a p-reg bravo 1.6 16v, but some times the injector light keep comming on and then going off. i also notice that when i drive the car at high speed the temp is on the C mark line. but if i accelerate while driving at say around 70mph the temp starts to rise, if i light my foot off it goes back down. i also notice that if i leave it to idle as soon ac the temp needle reach neer to the middle, it falls right back to just above the C mark and continue to do the same again. at high speed when the light comes on it doesnt lose any power but at slow speed where it mostly comes on, it does loses power.

the person i bought the car from was a lady, who said she hardly drive it and hadnt use it for the last 3 weeks as she has another car. could it be that one of the injector's has become clogged because it wasnt really being used??

also i havent heard the fan as yeat. does anyone has any idea as to if its the injector or is it the coolant system thats the problem? and what cost am i looking at to fix it if it needs a new injector?

and the heater works fine starts to blow hot after about 2-3 mins

As you say this is a fairly common subject. Initially I would suggest the use of an additive to see if that helps. A forum search will bring up more info. If the light is just intermittent then I would not worry about it too much at the moment.
Temp fluctuations may be a dodgy thermostat. There are a couple of open threads on that subject at the moment.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

i had a look at the forum today and i saw that i lot of people recomended redx, so i went and buy it and just poured a bit in the tank. i just have the feeling it might a problem with the cooling system because the temp needle is a bit crazy between the half-way line and the c mark, just keep going up and down once it get to half point.
because i am a novice where do i locate the thermostat? and where on the rediator can i find the bleeding screw? had a look didnt see one, do they look the same as the ones on the mrk1 punto's?

Not sure how relevant this is to you, but when I first got my Brava I had lots of problems with driver displays. The speedometer would suddenly fall to 0 (whilst travelling at speed!), the thermostat would drop to below 'C' and the fuel guage would ping around a lot. The fuel guage still isn't THAt reliable to be honest so I try to keep it fairly tanked up where possible.

After a few days the main problems that I've described above went away.

I only experienced them when I was travelling at low speeds or stuck in traffic. My cousin reckoned it might be something to do with a fan coming on (forget exactly what he said) which interfered with the dashboard...

I had a similar problem with my Brava 1.4 when I first bought it. The symptoms were the same. The problem was primarily the thermostat. This had a plastic "frame" that was broken leaving the stat fully open all the time. The injector light used to come on after about 5 or 10 minutes, I assume because the coolant was unable to reach operating temperature.

I replaced the thermostat and the ECU temperature sensor and so far (18 months on) this problem has not recurred.

I hope that this is of help.

ok i booked it in for a ckeck at a main dealer for a test tomorrow £41. the guy on the phone say they rearly have the replace a injector?? not by the looks of it on this forum cause its common, he think its a switch or a thermostat.

had the car checked to at a fiat dealer( or should i say stealers.. :) . they said the problem is that my number 4 injector is faulty and needs replacing and it will cost me £339 inc VAT to fix. the injecter will cost £109.00 from them and the rest will be for labour and if i dont change it i may damage the catalys converter which he said is a £600 job. i went an check another garage to fix it, now that i know the problem, they said if i buy the part, they would fix it for £86.00 including VAT.
funny thing is that i drove the car all this morning and the light never came back on... :)

does any one know where i can get the injectors to buy at a good price. i found a site on the internet thats sell them for £68.00 each, but i am not sure if they are reconditioned injectors. i will post the link up later of the site.

Jayjj,

Sounds similar to my faulty thermostat problem (stuck open all the time), except that mine always stayed at/below "C" mark regardless how long the car was being. The injector light would also come on. If I stopped the car, stop the engine, take a rest and and set off again, the light would stay off and at some random time later (not always repeatable/consistent) it would come back on again.

I initially thought it was the injector, but I did not feel any noticeable loss of power when the light came on, so this was a red herring for me.

Anyway, I changed the thermostat, and everything so far has been fine (and thanks to all these guys on this forum who helped me out). So I would check the thermostat. :)

i think it deffinate the injector on this because i lose a lot of power when light comes on. i drove it around for a bit today and the light was off for a long time and the temp gauge wasnt going up and down, once warm up it stayed below half way mark and the fan kicks in when it reaches the half way line. i am getting my injectors hopfully tomorrow from shop4parts.co.uk for £66.75. compare to fiat new qouet i got today of £122... and will have it fitted at another garage for £86 a saving of around £200

had the injector changed today and no more injector light paid £41 to fit it. Problem solved. Thanks for all your replys.

the injector light is back with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and this time its not going away. driving home since night, i stopped at a junction and as i was moving off the injector light came back on. if i stop for a while and trun off the engine then turn back on the engine, the light will stay off for a while b4 comming back.

does anyone knows what else could be the problem because i took it to fiat and they said it was the number 4 injector i changed it at its been fine until tonight.

The symptoms you describe sounds exactly like my Brava 1.4. I had to change my faulty thermostat to fix the problem.

The fact that you said in your original post "....temp is on the C mark line..." still makes me believe it could be a faulty "stuck open" thermostat.

Since you have changed an injector, do you still loose power when the injector light comes on?

i dont rely feel a lost of power as much as before. I called fiat again they said its because they need to clear the and reset ECU and it using the old fault that was there before. I dont rely like how the guy on the phone said it though."Take it down to us and we will get rid of that light for you and fix the problem". ;) that reminded me of a post i saw on here when someone couldnt get rid of i light on the dash that they been taking to fiat, they couldnt fix what was wrong so they disconnected the light and gave back the car and said they fixed it. THEY WOULD DEAR TRY IT WITH ME...

Re: NIGHTMARE injector light problem

took the car to fiat again, this time they said they cannt find a problem because their is nothing stored in the memory because now this light is always on, but one of the mechanics that looked at it said their is deffinatly a problem but they dont know what.

Chuck they said they dont think a thermostat would cause it a lost of power.

take it to an auto electricians if the light is on constantly they will be able to find out what it is. FIAT dont seem to be able to diagnose their own cars.

its not just a fiat thing,we are just not ment to mess with are modern cars they dont whant you to be able to fix it yourself.idont mind paying out money if the job is fixed.but with these sort of faults you can be sure it dont happen when you take it to someone.are you sure the car is not running to hot.the light is also linked to coolant faults.if i get stuck in traffic and my engine gets hot my light will flash, and run alittle lumpy until the temp.drops down some.your temp gauge is not reading write.
