hello

I live in the norwich area and i am looking for a garage that will
rebuild my 2ltr 20 valve bravo hgt i had the pleasure of my cambelt
snapping i was only going slow does any one no what sort of damage
this will have done.
I am worried about how much this is going to cost me can any one
give me a close estimate.

thanks.

you will have bent valves. total cost of repair at my local garage would be £180-250 including replacement of any bent valves, refitting of the head and replacement of the timing belt.

finding a good garage is always difficult, you dont know who you can trust or if they're going to try and rip you off. its wise to be cautious because the industry is full of conmen. if you have friends or family who use the same garage all the time and have a good relationship with the people working there then i woujld suggest that is a good place to start. you could also call every local garage to get quotes and then give the cheapest place a try, it could be the start of a beautiful friendship or your worst nightmare, but you'll never know if you dont take a chance.

I tend to think it will be alot more than that, even replacing the belts on the HGT is a pain in the rear, everything is expensive for it from head gaskets to tensioners. Also cost will depend on how many valves are bent these can easily be £8-10 a pop.

:yeahthat: most plcaes charge on average of £500 to do a cambelt on an hgt so wim sure with replacing the valves skimming the head e.t.c will add at least other £150 to that.
