Im stuck for ideas on my bad idle. I will start up and it will be about 1,300 until it drops back to 800. When it drops back to 800rpm it will fluff about. Not constantly which tells me its not timing or valves.

I have replaced the lambda, crank sensor, air temp sensor. I tryed a MAP sensor as i have one about. Got 4 good working injectors in. My idle control valve moves about fine.

Help ME! :bang: :bang:

tried adjusting the accelerator cable?
mine snapped and i had to install a new one. adjusted it properly and now it idles at 800rpm after warming up when before it idled at 1,200rpm (would od failed emissions i expect!)

was thinking perhaps yours is idling below 800rpm which would cause it to die?

also have you tested the battery? when my battery died an i had to bump start everytime, the battery was so dead that the car revved by itself up to 2,500rpm and down again to stop it from failing until it had warmed up.
i have no idea how this happened. perhaps my car is alive? been thinking of selling for a while now...probably hates me :)

it fluffs and dosent pull cleanly. :bang:
oh you mean you have a misfire!

in that case visually check all plugs are firing and give your injectors another resistance check just to make sure none have failed or degraded since fitting. if that all checks out fine then do a compression test. if that shows no problems then we can be certain that you have a sensor fault.

I wouldnt call it a missfire. I have replaced all plugs and leads. All my injectors are good now finally.

I am thinking its a sensor or a leak in my exhaust that i have.
i got my timing done. Fired it up at the garage it was fine, i drove home and when i got home the mount holding my backbox on was not attached so by backbox was hanging.

There is now a little leak from some clamps that hold on a new bit of pipe to replace the box i had taken out.

Im getting that welded and if that dosent fix it all i can think is its cam sensor.

no point replacing cam sensor unless you have a good reason to, such as a diagnostic showing an error code for the cam sensor.

Reaper, done the water temp sensor? sounds like the mixture is wrong if its fluffing...

Right still got it.

Looked at my ISCV today and it didnt move much. Read some posts on it and they describe my problems.

Its scrapyard time. Might actually have my car working for once! :slayer:

Can I suggest one thing?

Please try jerking the wires that go to the ECU back and forth (especially the ones that go to the MAP sensor). And report if that has helped stabilizing the idle.

There is one guy on autokacik.pl, who claims to have sorted this issue out by simply replacing the length of wires from the sensor.

Tried fiddleing with the wires. Tried a new Idle control valve. With no luck. Cleaned out the whole throttle body. Still no luck.

I have finally decided it must be the timing that is out as it started right after i had it done. Would this cause what ihave described?

Is there anyway to check the timing (without stripping the engine) as i took it back after and they said they checked it and it was fine, i dont belive them!

My fault - I wrote MAP while I meant TPS - there is a wire that goes to the throttle and tells the computer where the flap is. It oxidizes with time and changes resistance.

a compression test would usually identify if the timing was out, but you'd need to know what pressure to expect to be able to determine if there was low compression, and i cant remember what pressure to expect, sorry.

I tryed all the wires that go to the sensors still with no luck.

The only option left now is the timing. What shall i do about the fiat garage i had it done at as i have taken it back once and they said the timing is fine. So i dont really know what to do next. :bang:

I had a slightly off feel to mine, not missfires etc, just not pulling cleanly.
The bracked on my back box was also broken and was blowing a bit. Had it replaced and she feels miles better. :dunno:

She also revs a lot higher too. Its actually getting to the redline too :p
