not sure about the engine damage but if you do need to get a new engine: -

have a look on ebay for an engine plenty of breakers usually advertise engines on ebay.
if your in birmingham look arround the digbeth/wheels area ive seen lots of scrap yards around there (1 at the back of the custard factory) not sure if they are breakers or they just crush them. worth a look.

im about 15miles from birmingham, if i hear of or see any 1.6 bravo engines ill let you know.

could be the perfect excuse to upgrade to a 2.0 20v turbo from a coupe. if your insurence will allow?

thanks alot for that m8... fat chance that will happen with a 20v turbo, it's my first car and i have informed my insurance about it as u know that if i do the premium will go through the roof.... thanks again tho (y)

There is a Fiat specialist on Cato Street North in Neachells called Fiat Base I've never had any trouble with them. I'll post the number for them tomorrow.

When the engine seized and striped the teeth on my 1.4 it was due to a broken cam follower.

I done the repair myself. The parts which includes the timing tool required and having the head skimmed at a specialst engine centre came to £150.

When I looked a getting a new engine of them, they all came with a 3month guarantee, but that was quite a while ago.

But phone thwm and they will quote you to repair it for you.

sounds very similar to ahto what happedned to my bravo.. what would u suggest i do? is it worth bothering gettin a new engine? and have u got the number for the person that done your head for you please ?

when belt teeth are ripped off its a fairly safe bet that valve damage will have occured. its important to find out what caused the belt teeth to come off, if the belt was very old and brittle then there may be nothinh wrong, but usually this happens because something seized, so check the bearings carefully on everything connected to the timing belt, especially the tensioner, idler and waterpump.

its probably best to repair your head, replacing a few valves is nothing serious.
