Re: How much to fix this scratch

Ask for a reduction in price to reflect the repair cost . Maybe £150. So many different things to take into account. Do you not know anyone in the body trade ?

Re: How much to fix this scratch

Yeh your looking at around £150. I know a couple of people who have used mobile companies like "Chipsaway" and they were very happy also if you point out any small stone chips they usually do them for free.

Re: How much to fix this scratch

Cheers guys, gonna go have a look at it on wednesday hopefully the rest of the car is fine.

Re: How much to fix this scratch

The price is low as is the mileage just be sure ! Check service book for stamps and mileages recorded, all the usual stuff as its all too easy to get carried away.
Good luck :)

Cheers, well he said that he originally put it up for £5500, but I guess that scratch was putting people off so he lowered it to £5k, also said he replaced a strut on it not long ago. Fingers crossed it all checks out, that's the nearest T-jet to me at the moment cant find many for sale.

Re: How much to fix this scratch

Make sure you rag it. Check for decreased performance, any smoke billowing out the back you can see through your mirror. Just the usual I guess. If there's any doubt just hand the keys back though.

Yeah will do, I cant imagine there will be anything seriously wrong with it considering the mileage and age, fiats are more reliable now I assume, compared to my mk1 it should be an absolute dream to drive :D.

Re: How much to fix this scratch

True, I guess the best I can do is to go and have a look at it. I won't be able to drive it as I wont be insured on it either so wont be able to tell if theres any power loss until I've handed the money over and covered it on insurance. There was a blue T-jet I was looking at aswell. Seems quite cheap.

Re: How much to fix this scratch

Ah it's a private sale! You'll get a feel for how it's been looked after from the owner, I'm sure he won't mind if you ask him to open it up a bit, if he's reluctant, that may indicate a problem under full load. Avoid.

Re: How much to fix this scratch

Would you say that that blue t-jet i linked to was a bit cheap? Do you think something could be wrong with it? Or is it because its not one of the models with the panoramic roof.

I'd be reluctant to rag the **** out of my own car whilst showing someone on a test drive..

Re: How much to fix this scratch

Went to look at that t-jet, had absolutely no oil in the engine, dipstick was bone dry. Steering well clear of that car. Shame really, was looking forward to getting it.

Absolutely the right thing to do. Who knows what future problems this will bring for someone. There will always be another car tomorrow, so if you are in any doubt whatsoever - just walk away.

Re: How much to fix this scratch

yep totally agree, I've got my eye on a couple more so i'll be the proud owner of a T-jet soon, hopefully :D

Re: How much to fix this scratch

Make sure you drive it, regardless of insurance. Find somewhere nice and private and drive it yourself. You'd be a fool not to. Also bear in mind many fully comp insurance policies claim "the policy holder may drive any other vehicle with the owners permission" meaning you're covered under your own insurance.
