Blue & Me - Tech Info and questions and answers

Last Thursday my Nokia6310i decided that it was'nt going to talk to my GP Sporting, worked fine since September, one slight hiccup after a short while:confused: meant I had to "pair" it again but only took 2 mins.
Then tried to pair phone again today and it worked like a charm!!, a little bit of Nokia and maybe Fiat electrickery, in fact to be fair I feel that the phone was probably more to blame than Fiat as the car repeatdly went through the procedure but the phone would'nt search for audio accessories??

Looks like the new Blue&Me Nav is available in the new Bravo model.
More info here. Practical guide here.
It seems to me that there is nothing special. The Blue&Me just needs an USB slot, where this Nav Kit (which is an USB pen drive that contains all the maps). Now, I would assume that my GP's Blue&Me can be upgraded as well with the Nav. I would be really pissed off if not. Anyone? I also wonder if the display on the dashboard is capable to display these basic navigation information. I would also think that there shouldn't be any problem.

Hi

Thinking of upgrading my phone to either a Sony Ericsson K800i or a Samsung D900. I notice someone above has had a few probs with their K800i, but has anyone else got either of these phones working ok with B&M?

Thanks.

I was having great difficulties with my K750i. It would only work about 37.58% of the time. The rest of the time I wanted to use it the woman was either saying 'searching for connection' or other sillyness was occurring. A few of my mates said they heard me swearing repeatedly at it even though I couldn't hear them or even realised I was calling anyone. What if I had rang my mother by accident!

Got a new k800i and it works like an absolute dream. Perfect every time! The only thing I would say is that it's very slow to copy the phone book (be patient, it takes a good few mins) and for some reason when someone is ringing me, their number comes up on the display rather than there name which I have saved in my phone??

One more question: What the hell is that thing with Windows Flag logo on this picture?

Just got an 8 month old 1.4 Dynamic with B&Me. Got my phone to work with no problem but cannot get the media player to work. When I plug either my Mp3 or memory stick in they both power up but thats it. Pressing source on both s/wheel or radio simply brings up the message 'No Source Available'. Pressing the main button only gives me options for the phone - I've lost count of the times I've deleted my phone by pressing the wrong button!! Beginning to think the media player feature isn't even fitted. Anybody any idea before I go back to the dealer?

Well - seems everyone has had problems. My Sony k800i gives me nothing but problems. Most of the time the car never connects. When it does the headset icon on the phone stays on and have to turn the phone off and reset. It constantly freezes and startin to think i might have a dodgy phone. My address book in the past has also vanished on the car only to reappear next time i get in the car. My last phone with Nokia works perfectly - even if i only used it for 2 months with the car.

If anyone else has had any problems then let us all know!

Although my K800i works fine for the most part. I do have that same problem where the headset icon appears, meaning I can't actually hear anyone on the phone until I switch it off and on to get rid of the icon. I'm sure there's a quicker way of doing this which I'll chase up and let you know if I find out!

I've had absolutely no problems with my K800i since I got it...and I haven't had to connect it via USB to download the phonebook. So I don't understand why some of you on here are having problems. I wonder some of the more recent K800i's have a different firmware release?

Hi, I have a Grande Punto for 7 months with Blue&me.

I have an iPod 4G (photo) which works well during about 4 months. It was formated with iTunes on Windows and works like an external disk.
Their is only mp3s on it. The iTunes playlist doesn't works, but no problem with it.

But one month ago, I had big problems. The Blaupunkt swith from Media Player to AUX and I lose Blue&Me (no phone, no commands, no media player).

It happens like random, It works sometimes and sometimes not :bang: :bang: .

I go to my car dealer and they made update, they search the problem during half a day but didn't find nothing. The only response they have it's that Blue&Me doesn't work with iPod   ...

My problem doesn't happen only with my iPod, it happens with nothing on USB port or with an USB stick.

Have someone an explication?

For the phone, I have a Motorola PEBL which works well.

The "MEDIA PLAYER" is done from the control lines in the car radio and blue&me box.

Get them to see if the connection is secured, do a proxyy alignment (resets the computers onboard) and a full reset of blue&me.

Just got our Eleganza on Saturday and Blue & me works perfect with wifes V3 and worked initially with my K750i but now when trying to dial with voice, car doesn't recognise the "yes" command and either goes back to audio device or message says call ended. Cheap mp3 player works a dream though, easier to access through car than actual player. I think it may be the phone to blame as it seems to shut down and start up by itself when connected to car.

Just in case anyone needs this info, I did get my Nokia N73 to work. I upgraded the firmware to the latest one (info below) and it seems to work ok now with no problems what so ever (y)
For those that don't know, you can now update your Nokia's firmware over the web, go here and download the software and away you go!

Blue & Me & Ipod

Hi, just bought a new grande punto with B&M and have been inmpressed with the car and the link-up with my mobile.

However, I am having problems hooking up my ipod.

Please can someone who knows give the definitive lowdown - are ipods compatible with Blue&Me?

So I've plugged the ipod into the USB port, which charges the ipod whilst it says "do not disconnect". I presumed that whilst this message was flashing up on the ipod, the libraries were syncing up. I have a large library (40GB), so I assumed it would take a while. But after an hour and a half I gave up!

If I had stuck with this for longer would it have worked? Or is it necessary to buy a Dension Ice-Link?

Many thanks in advance
Alistair

Alistair,

I can only tell you my experience, but I have a 120 GP with blue & me etc. I have a full up 4gb ipod nano. The first time I plugged it in, it took less than 5 seconds to sync, then the first track started playing automatically. Never had a problem since. Whenever the car is started up it always plays the ipod first until I press the SRC button to change to radio or whatever.

What model GP do you have? Are you sure you have Blue & Me, have you got the little windows icon on bottom left button on steering wheel?

Thanks for your reply Tim,
I have a 1.4 Dynamic. I do have blue&me - I've been using my phone to make calls over the system. Could it be that there is some half-baked version that supports phones but not mp3 players? I doubt this personally. Incidentally, I don't have the windows symbol, but a different symbol which looks something like .)))
but it works just like the instructions say it should - apart from this mp3 problem.
Incidentally, tried my girlfriend's shuffle ipod with no success either.

thanks again
Al

I know Zune is not available officialy in Europe, but has anyone had a chance to try one with Blue&Me?

Also Tim, is your ipod Mac or Windows? Mine is Mac - maybe that's a problem?

My Ipod is windows. Could you try a friend with a windows ipod, see if it works then?

I also use a memory stick, just a cheap one from dixons, can you use them? Mine was the same as the ipod, just plugged it first time and off it played. Are you tunes downloaded as plain and simple mp3, as I know if you use the ipod software to rip cd's and the tunes are not mp3 they won't work.

I thought the GP versions without the windows key on the steering wheel were not full blue&me systems. And they just had the convergence bluetooth phone functions and not the USB MP3 functions
