General buying a B.what to look for....

First thing to look for is rust.
See under the car behind front wheels. If it's yellow this is not a good sign.
then look at the chassis number, there should not be rust or wet under the mat. feel with your finger around the hole.
then check rear wheelarch abov. pull towards you. You shoudn't hear it cracking.
Then check rear axle, it should not be totaly rusted like springs etc.

Then check both trialing arms at the back. Take the wheel at 3 and 9 a clock and pull, there should be no play in them.

Then go over all normal things to review a second hand car.
Take in mind cambeld/variator, hood rubbers, and roof cost a lot.

One thing to look out for is RUST.

The problem areas are the floor pans from the inside (inspection flap on pass. side)
Underneath the car right along the entire length of the inner sill.

Behind the bulkhead where the fuel tank is located, rear arches in particular rust badly. Give it a poke from the outside around the piece of double skinned reinforcement panel.

Make sure the cam belt has been replaced along with the variator.

Check the engine oil level.

Check for accident damage i.e. remove the rubberised carpet from the boot and inspect the spare wheel well.

Check operation and condition of the hood, if it is difficult to lift up, the gas struts have failed.

Check the condition of the tonneau seal which is under the roof recess panel.

Check tyres, brakes, clutch and all other normal items.

Check operation and condition of the hood, if it is difficult to lift up, the gas struts have failed.

you won't find a barchetta with good ones:p

all the rest, so true.
If you can remove the trim where the speakers are, and check front corners for rust. They are most of the times corroded.
