Hi,

I've just picked up my 1996 Barchetta. All seems fine apart from a slight whining/buzzing coming from behind me. You can only really hear it when you are at a standstill. I assume it is the fuel pump? Is it anything to worry about or do they all do this? I've got an 800 mile drive back to France next week and don't really want to be breaking down en route!

Thanks - Simon.

if it sounds like a very small electric vacuum cleaner, yes it IS the fuel pump.

Strange that they run all the time - or al least, mine seems to. Would expect it to cut in and out in demand to fuel requirements of the engine.

I gather that the pump is controlled by the ECU .....

here's mine

2 months later died, and i had to push barchetta for 1km to first parking place. :bang::bang:
