Thought I'd have a pop at the windows myself and see if I could fix the problem. At heart, I am a bit of a tight arse - perhaps it's the part Scottish ancestry!
Took the door card off, getting the hang of that door handle surround now.
Sure enough, the top guide is broken. Ah well, whip the glass and mechanism out to see what could be done.
Ground down the plastic so it was level with the slider on the guide:
Then chopped down one of those little plastic angle blocks you use for putting furniture together, bolted it on:
You have to make sure the bolt doesn't protrude far out either side. Too much on the inside and it fouls the motor and door on the way up, too much on the back and you'll shatter the glass when you tighten that back on
It took about 5 or 6 goes to get the block the right shape so it didn't jam the mechanism or foul, but the glass is a lot more secure now. Have had another go at lining up the glass against the rubbers, but if you haven't tried it there's a hell of a lot of different combinations to adjusting it:
It's a hell of a lot quieter now, might try the passenger side if it doesn't snow

- Play on mountings to adjust mechanism position before tightening,
- Stops at the front and rear of the door to limit glass travel and adjust 'rest angle' of the glass,
- Two adjusters to set the vertical angle at which the glass sits
