My wife has a Barchetta 1995 which she loves ( more than me)
The handbrake is very weak and need an adjustment (?)

How / Where do I do that?

On the wire under the panel inside the car?
Behind the wheel / drum ?

I'd like to get a tip where to start;)

Wouldn't know how to do it myself but, when I took my Punto (sadly gone now) in for a service, the mechanic tightened it up free of charge as it was a bit weak. Should be a simple job in that case. The difference was very noticeable.

You adjust from inside the car. Remove the centre armrest, then adjust the nut on the handbrake lever. I think you are supposed to apply the handbrake by four clicks then adjust till the rear wheels are locked, release handbrake and check that the rear wheels aren't binding. You may find that it's more than a adjustment of the handbrake though check the pads for wear and general condition. Hope this helps.

If after adjusting the handbrake it helps but not much, it could be the handbrake cables need replacing. I had to replace mine a few months ago and its like night and day. Changing the cables is not that hard but you will stuff the rear exhaust heat shield when you try to remove it from the car to get at the cables. I forget how much the cables cost but I think it was around £80 -£100 (ish)

Hi, I'm new on the forum and I'm about to try my first DIY job on the Barchetta. Can somebody tell me how I remove the armrest to adjust the handbrake ??
Thanks Mark.

It's been awhile since I removed the armrest, but I think you will find the fixings to be in the handbrake lever aperture, also inside the armrest there is a trim card covering the other screws, also there is a locating pin that locates into the rear petrol tank cover,:( undo the screws and manoeuvre the armrest clear of the handbrake
