Changing Mirror Covers Hi All.

Has anyone changed the mirror covers on their 500x? I’m in the process of installing the Xtra Pack on mine and I'm a little apprehensive of getting the old covers off. The instructions make it look like you use a flat trim removal tool to pop it off at the anchor points?

Anyone done this before? Advice would be great. Thanks!

I replaced mine with the chrome ones after an idiot in a van broke the original

I think mine came off just using my fingers if I recall. I may have used a credit card just to open a small gap in the centre of the join between the cover and the lower bit of the mirror housing, then pulled the cover off towards the front of the car.

I'm not convinced the proper tool wouldn't damage the housing.

The new ones go back on by pushing them towards the back of the car, exact opposite of how the old ones came off.

Thanks for the advice. I tried with a trim removal tool and there didnt seam to be much movement. I just dont want to snap the clips... I'll try again at the weekend and see what happens....

I don't think you'll break the clips, they were fairly substantial if I recall. It's the reason the covers are reluctant to come off.

The reason I replaced my covers is because a loony van driver clipped one at speed. forcing the cover off and that didnt break the clips, on either the cover or the housing.

When I came to replace them I tried carefully prising the cover off at first but in the end just got my finger tips into the gap and pulled it off, as much out of frustration as anything.
