In 2013, when my Fiat 500 1.4 Sport was five years old, I replaced the shock absorbers with Koni FSD’s hoping to improve the ride comfort which I found a bit stiff with the 16” wheels. A couple of years ago I had to replace the fronts as rust caused the top seal to pop out and yesterday, when replacing a rumbling rear wheel bearing, I found that the rear shocks are rusting really badly too!

That's not good.

It seems it's not just Fiat which has problems with corroding parts.

And it's not like you're living by the seaside - Stafford couldn't be much further from the coast if it tried.

The UK climate really isn't kind to cars. Chassis grease, although messy, is probably the best way to protect these types of parts. Paint just doesn't cut it.
