I've had to swap out the driver's door with a replacement as it was damaged. The only thing I kept was the door handle and that was swapped out as well.

Put everything back, the car locks and unlocks, but neither the driver's or the passenger doors actually open. Only way you can open them is if you are sat in the car and you pull the grab handle. Otherwise the outside door handles don't work at all.

Thoughts???

The door not opening is normally one of the rods. The drivers door has two rods, the passenger door just one. Take the door card off again and get a torch in there. Its a bit of a coincidence that the passenger one isn't working either. As they are both locking then the power must be connected but if the rod has come off then it won't be pulling on the rod to actually open the car unless the solenoid you can here clicking which sounds like the doors are opening but it is not actually activating the lock, that would probably make more sense.

It's got to be a rod I think, get your head in and have a look.

Have you got the rods inserting from the direction of front of the car? Could they possibly be upside down as well as the wrong way round?

I can only think the passenger wasn't working as something to do with the solenoid not operating the lock on the drivers door.

You can sort of see how they should be in this video

Well a few days on, door lining off and looking again at the rods which all seem fine.

So, the passenger door won't open from the outside when using the fob, but the door will operate just fine when you pull the handle from the inside.

Starting to really struggle with the problem.

What about the drivers door? They are sort of connected via the BCM. The passenger door is not receiving the unlock message from the drivers door as the drivers door is the fault.

Would that still be the case if you can hear the passenger door unlocking?? It just won't open via the door handle?

So the door locks with remote locking. But when you unlock with remote key, the driver's side unlocks and you can hear the clunking from the passenger side, but there is no action. The handle just doesn't open the car. All rods are on ok. That's what is baffling about this all. The door unlocks however when you pull the handle from inside the car.

The pulling of the rod is mechanical rather than electrical. If the rods are ok, then it has to be the lock itself.

I may have a replacement passenger side one you can have. For a small financial donation to the group I will send it to you. Let me know and I will see if I have one. Alternatively you’ll pick one up complete on eBay.

Thank you for the offer. I'll get back to you Out of curiosity, changing of the lock appears complicated as it's a large item that really doesn't look like it comes out with ease due to the window regulator. Am I correct?

If it helps, the metal channel/ guide for the glass is only held in with two 10mm nuts. The lock comes out ok then.
I had the drivers side out yesterday as the interior door pull cable had cracked the white plastic shroud of the metal lock, so interior handle wouldn’t open the door. Bonded it for now. Just need to see if it’s available separately from the lock itself.
