I have something really odd going on with my Rev counter. It is reading about 2000 rpm too high. Resetting the instrument cluster by disconnecting the battery sets it back to normal, but going past 2000 rpm makes the fault come back. Any ideas what could be causing this?

The proxy alignment is out but I’m putting that down to an aftermarket stereo that has been fitted. It can’t be reset on multiECUscan

Thank you

I remember reading somewhere on here about re-setting the rev counter (or it may have been the speedo but it will be similar). It's worth having a more thorough search... or someone very familiar with the Fiat ECUScan software will know about that option (if I didn't imagine it) and might be able to advise. If you don't have Fiat ECUScan software then a local Forum member who does have it might be able to give it a go.. otherwise a dealer will certainly be able to re-set it.

It's not the crank sensor. That measures the engine timing as the engine goes round and does the fuel/sparks thing. The rev counter is just "it thinks zero is where 2000rpm is" so it just needs to re-learn that zero is at zero.
