The 2 series is indeed fwd but that's a school run car where you don't need rwd it's an mpv! So I agree with BMW there
The road tester is not a good 1? That bloke makes his living road testing all sorts of cars, and his opinion was based on driving various cars on the road. Please tell me, what do you do for a living?

With regards to the 2-Series Active Tourer, do you really think that BMW would design a whole new platform for just 1 car? Doesn't that potentially mean that there could be more FWD cars bearing the BMW badge?

Usually unless a car is something special like a Bugatti or the next Ferrari the general rule of reviewing anything, especially if you do it for a living is to slate it. Doesn't apply in all cases but compared to other cars in the same category it's not the worst but it's not the best.

The 2 series uses the same platform as the new Mini Cooper and is designed for front and 4 wheel drive cars, so don't expect more front wheel drives from BMW at the moment

The BMW 2 series active tourer is built on the latest mini platform but I agree that it's a likely sign for the future.

Alfa are returning to rwd after a long gap since the 75. For an engaging drive it's hard to beat a well set up transaxle car for sheer balance and handling.

The question isn't 'are front wheel drives more fun than rear wheel drives or any combination of rwd verses fwd

The question is are euro 6 500s are fun to drive, why do these posts go so ridiculously off topic !?

Indeed! I think we all agree, apart from our Greek friend perhaps, that they are fun to drive and can be made more fun by enhancing the suspension.

i have enhanced the suspension merkey, and it makes the car feel even more scary due to the higher cornering speeds. it really exposes the short wheelbase now!

Re: Are Euro 6 1.2's Any Good

I've always found that the 500 handles perfectly fine down lanes. I've never overcooked it, never understeered into a hedge either, which does seem to be the natural resting place of many a Corsa.

I think it's a great little car to have a bit of a blast down B-roads, smiling, and still hit a rather nice 60mpg!

Re: Are Euro 6 1.2's Any Good

The 500 is not a car that handles well at all with the standard suspension.

Can't believe we're talking about handling lol.

I use mine purely as an A to B car and is my daily driver. My 2015 Golf R is my weekend getaway. .

Re: Are Euro 6 1.2's Any Good

So I was in the mood for an economy run on the route I spoke about in the original post on Thursday.

For those who know the roads this was from Bala to Criccieth.

Quite pleased with myself

This was in my wife's Lounge.
