I ordered a 500C on January 26 and it has climate control what I was wondering is as somebody who doesn't understand Celsius whether it can be changed to Fahrenheit. I am a UK resident and the car I have ordered is a twinair 500C S

Can't be changed but its just a number. Comfortable tends to be about 21c (70f) but just adjust from there for personal taste.

Surely it's just a setting like miles vs kms in the menus? What an odd thing to not offer.

I think the climate control has its own display, so it's not under control of the main menu (although with the canbus system it could have been designed that way)

US 500's seem to have a Fahrenheit display in both the climate control and the centre of the speedo and I expected, before I bought the car, that it would be switchable, but not so. I wonder if it's something the dealer could go in and change if you asked them nicely.

Even our digital kitchen scale has a temp display with switchable F/C!

If that is the case how easy would it be to buy a US spec control panel and fit it?

Talk to your dealer first, Australian dealers may not have full access to the tools we have in Europe.

I would expect to pay arround £400-500 just for the control unit for the fiat 500 climate control panel and maybe even double that if you're trying to get hold of a U.S. spec item which most likely would need to be bought from the USA, this is just software at the end of the day so the dealer should be able to help especially if the sale depends on it, I,e threaten to cancel the sale

Having now owned my Fiat for just over a week I can tell everybody that it can indeed be changed to Fahrenheit (y)

As far as I'm aware, all that changes is the reading of the outside temp displayed on the dash, and not the ACC temp control.

Or am I wrong?

Ta!
Mick.

Checked this evening.

All that can be changed by "Units" on the menu system, is "Distance" and "Consumption".

No way can you change DegC to DegF.

Mick.

Lol! I'm ever closer pushing toward my 50th year and I've never used Farenheit! I don't even understand that unit of temperature! I thought degrees Celcius was far easier to understand personally. Must be a a old and crinkly thing :p

Hi guys,
Sorry for not getting back to this.

Our 500TA has an analogue display like this:

I have the Abarth 500 with the TFT instruments, and the outside temp / climate control can indeed be changed to Fahrenheit via the menu button.

Trouble is, the OP wants to change the ACC temp to DegF, not the outside temp readout.

Thanks for your info though. Ours is obviously old fashioned now!

Regards,
Mick.
