Now Christmas is over I can get back to my tinkering ;)

Just a quick post to show the (rough!) template I'm using to make up the CAD drawing for the faceplate, the rough cut outs allow me to measure the accurate positions of the corners of the screen and voltmeter.

More soon!

..next step

Having used the cardboard template to get some measurements I drew out a 2D image which I printed out life-size on paper and did a quick test run in the binnacle. The round hole to the left of the voltmeter is for a momentary push switch that will connect to a permanent live to check voltage whilst the engine is off and the one to the right of the screen is for the Tomtom's mic.

Now I need to find someone to turn it into metal for me! :)

Just having a little flurry of activity on this to get ready for a camping trip this weekend..I've re-applied some paint after a bit of a disaster where I actually dropped the whole thing on my shed floor whilst the paint was wet, there is still some flattening down to do but that can wait until I'm back from my break...

Tonight i am going to cover the joint between the paint and the leather with some piping and trim the excess leather off the base... In case you havent been following this thread and wonder why it's red, the leather matches my dashboard!

But I haven't got a red leather dash
