General Thinkinkng about getting a 500

There are some very good lease rates on the skoda Fabia at the moment, I'll post them up later. I've never been a fan of the yaris, they just scream dullness to me. If you want to step up a size it would be fiesta all the way for me.

My VW Up has arrived, its bright red. I've only done 10 miles in it so i'll start a new thread later.

quick pic from the trip home ...

The Zoe would not work for me as I need to do 10k per year. I am looking at a Toyota Yaris today and the Fiat 500 again, my wife has decided to get a car now so she may get a small car with me getting something slightly larger like the Yaris.

Such a hard decision with so many options, need to convince my wife I need the 500 Abarth!

If you're doing 10K p.a you'll need to budget for £2K on petrol at 32mpg in the A500. It can give more but it would need the 16s and a light foot.
If on the otherhand you had the economy of Steve's UP you can half that figure.
A 'halfway house' might be the TA where you could have a bit of fun and economy when you look for it plus 'cheaper' than the Abarth servicing costs.
If you are looking for 2 cars - decide if the 500 is going to be yours or if the OH is going to get it - in which case she may well be content with a 1.2 in Lounge spec.

Same trip home but with some slow moving traffic thrown in and keeping up with everything In the fast lane ... 50mpg. That's without short shifting and just driving it like a hire car.

It's the 75ps model, it's a high up. It's fairly nippy for a little car and while it hasn't got the pull of a diesel it's more than enough for the urban crawl. The supposed 105ps gt version would be fun. I'm going to try and get to the fiat dealer on Sunday to see if I can try and compare it to a twin air

We'll get you into a 500 yet.;)
You'll be primed for a back to back test (this will need the google translator)...

I fon't think I'd buy an up, its nice but soulless in a typical German fashion

My daily drive is a 4 mile commute, once a month I do a 260 mile round trip on a motorway, no other driving is on Motorways.

Buy a nice racing bike and waterproofs (and save money possibly by cancelling your gym membership). Then hire a car once a month.

I am sure that when you factor in depreciation that that will be the cheapest option. And in my experience hire cars are some of the best cars to have fun driving....
