Hi all, Not my first post ,but my first question. Ordered a 1.2 sport on the
12th july and was quoted 12/14 weeks. I am using my old car for the scrappage discount. Took all the paperwork and filled out and signed the forms etc.My question is does this now guarantee me the discount regardless of the time delivery takes. Also what happens if the scrappage money runs out before i pay and take delivery of my car.

1.2 sport ,BNW,Fixed Glass roof, chrome kit, side rubbing strip, 16"multi spoke wheels, grey/black seats with split rear. :)

Are their restrictions on the time allowed from ordering the vehicle to taking delivery?
Yes, the new vehicle has to be delivered within four months of the order being placed. This is because the scheme is time limited with a fixed budget. Dealers will let you know if the required vehicle cannot be delivered within this timeframe and discuss alternatives with you.

Taken off....

BERR are a bunch of twonks. They've made so many changes to the scheme it's not funny. Originally it was 12 weeks *shakes head*

Maybe the fact that some cars aren't arriving within the 12 weeks meant they had to change it to keep the uptake going...? They have to have the scheme 'run out of money' before it finishes otherwise it will look like its failed...

How dare you accuse a government department of window dressing! Shame on you! Shame on you! :p

We asked the same question to our salesman when we ordered and he told us that once the order had been placed the scrappage deal will be settled with the goverment within days afterwards. He also went on to say that even if the scheme ended within my delivery days our scrappage deal will still be safe.

I'm not sure if this is correct as I haven't read any small prints but I'm just taking the salesman's word for it and if it all goes down the pooper then I will be sending my mammy down :p lol!

While I'm sure it will still be safe, the paperwork takes at least four weeks. At least, that is how long I'm having to wait. Car is sat at the dealers already, scrappage paperwork still in the treadmill.

My salesman must be telling porky's. I thought it was a pretty quick process when he told me. I think because he knew I was going to be waiting a while for the car he just said those things to win me over once more putting the deposit down.

I bought my car under the scrappage scheme within the first 2 weeks of it starting. All they had to do then was copy my documents and send them off for approval - at the time there were a few teething troubles, so I had to wait a fortnight. I can only imagine that htere must be a backlog in the paperwork

My guy said bring it a week before. Should I go up sooner? Wouldn't be too pleased if I had to re-tax my car just because they hadn't got the paperwork done soon enough.

I was under the impression from my dealer that once the scrappage deal has been approved and the paperwork gone through, then the possibilty of the reserves running out won't effect me. The money for the old car has already been 'set aside', so the £1000 for the old car would count as cash already spent. I specifically asked my dealer about this stuff, and he never mentioned that if the car took longer than expected, I could lose out on the deal.

My paperwork hasn't even been requested and I pick up in 2 weeks. Like most people I was worried about them using the withdrawl of funds as an excuse so copies and posted them my paperwork a few days ago so they have no excuse.

They only need your paperwork @ pickup :)

There seems to be a few questions that even dealers cannot answer about scrappage i asked my dealer what happens if the car i am using for scrappage is written off before i pick up my new car as the insurance would not cover the £2000 saved using scrappage and he didn't have an answer...
