I'm pretty interested in getting a classic 500, I got inspired by seeing some footage on classiccartv.co.uk where a couple of guys showed off their restoration jobs. I've never done anything like that before but I reckon I might be ready to give it a go.

Be very wary, there are an awful lot of highly priced 500s that look good, but are full of filler and naff welding. They will rust absolutely everywhere, even the roof goes and rear suspension arms!
Restoring one properly is a very long and skillfull job, if you can afford to buy from a reputable seller but be prepared to spend from 4k upwards.

If its the fun reto thing and not an everyday driver, maybe try getting one in sothern italy where the rust worm is much milder. It will be LHD but there will be a lot more to choose from and maybe? cheaper.

Last year on holiday the cleaner of our villa was in the local 500 club locally. Hers was in mint condition and a credit to her. I could not really chat to her about it as we had pretty much no language in common, except for a thumbs up ;)
