40k! good lord what are you doing? living in it! :p

Seriously - VERY impressive :worship: reasures me that I made the right choice of car - as for badges & ethos - i'm not thrilled by the new badge i rather the red laurel of the old sport days but for my first "owned" FIAT i could not have done better...well maybe a Ritmo 130 Abarth or 124 Coupe or Spider or 131 Racing or ... oh heck I'm caught in 80's wish listing

BTW love the alloys - best ones by far (thats why I chose them too)

You're telling the wrong guy, 306maxi couldn't give a toss about any of that, as far as he's concerned, it's a small, cheap, mass produced polish car, right? (oh wait, he's right )

LOL yeah we all know MrMaxi's opinions quite well on this board!

I don't disagree with that though, I quite like the fact it's Polish. The Tychy plant is part of Fiat's history now and it's nice to own a piece of that!

Ritmo 130 Abarth. yes please :yum:

Well the computer says the last 1000 miles have taken 30 hours so that means I've spent about 50 full days of my life in the car!

They shouldn't, but it gets to me that they don't
I was properly proud of Fiat when they got Car of the Year (Fiats always win, but anyway) in 2008 and I know there are people driving 500s who don't realise what an achievement the car is, and that is sad!

Well European CotY is rigged anyway hence why Fiats always win and why no one cares about European CoTY :p

Did my 10000th mile escaping a carjacking would you believe! I think that’s proof that the car is sought after. But I still had time to take a picture.

Here’s my report on the car…

1.2 Manual Engine- It’s really great, not a huge amount of pull with 69hp, but with petrol at £1.12 I don’t want it to be a binge drinker.

Highly competent on the motorway too, cheaper insurance, less than £3 per month on road tax.

Initially I chose the 1.2 because it appealed to the head rather than the heart, but now that’s leaving me with more money than the SexySexyStilo did, it’s getting the love it has earnt. (y)

Paint - I got 2 stone chips in the first 200 miles then nothing since, makes me wonder if it was something to do with fresh paint?

Also getting those miniscule rust spots on the boot. I will sort them out one day…

My 500th Mile!

Dash – the plastic covering the instruments is attracting dust (as you can see!) which is a bit annoying but easy to wipe off, the dials are clear, the readouts are really useful, it is just quality.

Love the interior when it’s all lit up at night. Turning the wheel with the B&M buttons lit up is a bit special!

I’d recommend owners have a look under the dash on the passenger side – not a lot of stuff under there, you can see why the car is so light.

The chrome gear knob needs a bit of polishing from time to time, as does the chrome exhaust, which is still pristine even now.:woot:

ESP has been a lifesaver already on more occasions than I can count! I drive on a lot of twisty roads in the Dales and without the ESP Bob would have been in a hedge by now i'm sure.

DRLs – Really useful, get flashed quite often by busy-body drivers (if I actually had my fogs on then they’d be right to flash – shame some people can’t tell the difference between two sets of lights yet they have the self-importance to tell me what to do!), but they are useful and they look good too.

I keep checking the car out in shop windows :D

Blue&Me- Have christened the woman ‘Sharon’, you can tell when she’s having bad day with Bob because she just says ‘sorry command not available when the car is in motion’ or something equally as helpful. Cheers luv.

The cornering is excellent. What lets it down is the headlights. You are able and willing to go fast round corners, you just can’t see them coming (on low beam); that’s when it’s accident time.

As for the future, here’s to the next 10000 miles! However, the ride is a nightmare on British Roads (or in other words; ‘fun’). This will be the reason I go to the chiropracter and Bob goes to the car shop and a nice cheque comes my way (or possibly a Bravo if I can get my head round the styling).

:worship:And once again a round of applause to the FiatForum team for being brilliant generally:worship:

Final pic of Bob having a break at the new A1 Wetherby services - they're really good and they have those scary dyson hand-dryers in the loos.

A set of Eibach springs will sort the your ride out............but I agree with you regarding the headlights on Dip, there useless, there fine on main beam though.
Anyone have any good idias apart from changing the bulbs or the headlamps for the later very expensive type.

Great thread! Glad to see someone having fun as well as simply modding them with standard spec like a few seem to be focused on!

I saw one of the driving school BMS cars the other day. They are, as expected, serious low spec and look more micra-style than 500 ;-)

Think it's obvious who is in it for the 'latest mini style retro look' estate agent / daddys girl than the hardcore fiat fanatics. Ie the polish, shine, mods, smiles and WAVES TO OTHER 500ers, should give it away!! I do shudder when someone says 'I like your little car its like a mini isnt it'...'er no it's not, it is more an extension of my soul'

My first car was a fiat uno 'the tank' and I was raised from a wee nipper in my mums old 500!!

Long live the fiat 500 frantic wave at other 500 drivers!!!

Had a bit of an adventure...

The car has had 10 days in the garage!

Last Friday the wipers stopped working just randomly.
(You can normally hear a sort of electronic click when you use the wiper stalk- i was hearing the click but the wipers weren't moving) So I called the garage and they had a look.

Waited a week for a new body computer to be sent from Italy! Never expected it to be such a major part. (n)

Excellent service despite the very long wait. (y) Full valet on the car, apology offered and checks carried out (brake pads were down to the metal! New set @ £90)

I'm at 42600 miles now and thought I'd post this up to see if anyone else has had the same issues-or if you have this issue in future then you know you're not alone

Still sad that very few drivers are still waving! Come on guys!

Dealt with those 'rust spots';

Found these parts under the driver's seat. Not impressed and now the seat is squeaking a lot. Looks like something has sheared off.

The kickplates are going rusty. This is annoying and hopefully they'll be sorted under warranty.

DSCN2855.JPG

The bonnet has got some big paint chips. I want these sorted ASAP!

The Fiat badge bubbling/water damage is affecting the front badge now aswell!

Still got the alloy wheel centre caps to sort out.
And a DRL blew the other day.
The garage have a quite a big list of things to sort out!

On the bright side:
IMG_0400.jpg

from 500 to 50000!

Even after these little niggles and the body computer saga, I'm still really happy with the car. Especially with fuel prices supposedly rocketing. (y)
When the warranty runs out I might have a sudden change of heart!

That's awesome. Thanks. It's going in next Tuesday so we shall see....
Are you in your third year of warrenty yet? will be interested to know if the kick plates and centre caps are covered, I have just had the fog light surround replaced due to rust. Think the dealer mentioned it wouldnt be third year covered which starts next week, however they might just be saying that.
