Blue&Me

When I bought my Fiat, I had a iPhone 5s (T-Mobile). It worked intermittently. Was told my iPhone was too old. The actual guy who worked on my Fiat told me that they had a lot of issues with that year of Blue&Me. I bought an iPhoneX. It worked for awhile, then it won't. I can get calls using the Bluetooth, but cannot play music either downloaded or through Spotify. I took it again to the Fiat dealer today and the desk guy told me that the iPhone w/ T-Mobile wasn't compatible. So they have wasted 3 years of my time and still there's no fix.

Today, I ran into a friend who also has a Fiat and he told me that they told him that his Samsung android phone wasn't compatible. Both of us bought our Fiats at Santa Monica Fiat.

This is looking like it may be a class action lawsuit.

Re: Blue&Me

We've had several reports here of iPhone compatibility issues; the lastest iOS updates appear to break Blue&Me connectivity as far as music playing is concerned on some versions of the Blue&Me hardware.

The best way to play music on a Blue&Me system is to download it onto a Windows-formatted memory stick in .mp3 format and put the stick in the usb slot. You will then be able to use the steering wheel controls to select and play your music.

Foobar2000 (freeware) is an excellent tool for converting just about any music format into just about any other music format. I keep my master music library in FLAC format and use it to transcode to whatever I happen to need for the device I want to use it with at the time.

Using a phone to select music whilst driving is an extremely bad idea. I don't know what the law is in the USA, but in the UK, it'll get you an automatic six penalty points plus a fine if you are caught by the police; that's more than halfway to losing your licence.

I believe using your phone is legal while driving in most of the USA
Some States even allow texting while driving 😂

Re: Blue&Me

Blue&me does seem to vary in its compatibility seemingly from one car to another. For example my 2011 Punto Evo with Blue&me2 works with my iPhone 6s without any problems (a phone made in 2015) and my wifeís brand new iPhone XR. Other people with exactly the same car, report no compatibility at all with any iPhone, having explored all options and eventually given up.

You iPhone ďshouldĒ work with blue and me the network should not affect that and neither should the age.

Itís also worth noting that fiat NEVER update software on cars, and so never fix these issues.

Most other manufacturers do regular updates on infotainment systems to keep them compatibily with the latest phones.

If you are an iPhone user and you have all your music on your iPhone and carry your iPhone on you at all times, then it is a massive pain in the arse to go and create a memory stick with all your playlists and favourites songs neatly ordered into folders and files, when you already have this on your phone.

I donít want to carry around extra unnecessary stuff and donít want to leave something in the car that will get damaged with heat or cold, or attract thieves. A usb memory stick is a massive inconvenience.

The law on using your phone in the car applies to hand held electronic communications devices, this means if you donít physically pick it up and hold it in your hand, you can do what you want with it. For example, if you have you phone in a holder and you can maintain full control of your vehicle then you can text and drive. You can access songs and playlist, use satnav and check the lottery results.

With blue&me you should be able to plug in and access all your music functions from the cars controls. And the phone functions as well, it obviously if this doesnít work it encourages people to reach for their phone. Most new phones will do most things by barking orders and you donít have to touch them anyway.

Re: Blue&Me

My car is a 2012 Fiat Pop and I have an LG G5 carrier/Sprint. All functions of Blue&Me were working up until mid December of last year. Then, out of no where, I began to get the same issues as you. Blue&Me settings only have " Call Audio and Contacts and call logs" associated with it. I can simple play any media anymore or have my GPS run through the speakers. I tried downloading an app that was suppose to help but I didn't. Sprint checked it out and they couldn't do anything I'm currently having an issue with my license plate lights and waiting to hear from the dealer. I'm going to ask them about this Blue&Me issue and get back to you all.
