Hi all thanks for previous help still have a nagging problem , I had a speedo that the mileage counter didn’t work and the internal
Signal for indicators didn’t work but external medications work fine , changes the speedo for a fully working one and now the mileage counter is great [emoji1317] but the indicator problem still not fixed all bulbs good so not bulb any ideas as they work fine externally but nothing regards internal Signal and it’s driving me insane not knowing if I have indicated or not thanks agin people

Hi, it sounds as though you're not getting any voltage to the indicator pilot light or a bad earth on the bulb holder.

There should be a green wire on the P terminal of the flasher unit. The unit is mounted on the bulkhead by the bonnet hinge. If you have a volt meter you can check that you have voltage at terminal P with the indicators flashing. If you have battery voltage the problem will be with the green wire, either dirty connectors, a break or a poor earth on the bulb holder. If there's no voltage at terminal P the flasher unit will need replacing.

Thanks for help I never used volt meter ☹️ I find it strange all the indicators work as should externally but internally not light and no click click noise from indicator , it’s a new fully working speedo so know all bulbs and bulb connections ok as moved them about to check all holders as bulbs working , I wonder it the chap who had car before when he fitted he new flasher unit only last year out all connecting wires back on new unit in right order maybe just a thought ?

Have a look at the flasher unit and check to see if there's a green wire connected to terminal P. You could also remove the bulb holder from the Speedo and try cleaning the bulb and holder to ensure you've got a good earth. A multimeter is a useful tool that will quickly help to trouble shoot problems like this. I keep a cheap one in the car and it only cost £5. There are plenty of sites on the internet that will give a novice information on how to use it. An alternative to a multimeter is a test light. You can buy one ready made or make one out of some wire, a 12v bulb and a bulb holder.

The flasher units are generally reliable, but some of the imported ones are poor quality and are sometimes faulty from the box!

Thanks again for help , the bulb and bulb holder are fine that much I know , the flasher relay did work for mot middle last year but may of failed , as for wire there is a wire from P on relay unit but not green it’s black as are all the wires from relay unit others have blue markings but the P wire is all black

The wire that's connected to terminal P, regardless of colour, should have its other end connected to a bulb holder that's plugged into the indicator warning socket on the back of the Speedo. The wire should be live when the indicators are on. The needle of a voltmeter will swing up to 12v and back to 0v in time with the flashing indicators. A garage should be able to check this for you in a few seconds. If the test shows that the flasher units is faulty a replacement is easy to fit, it's just a case of connecting the wires to the correct terminals. I'd suggest marking all the wires before you disconnect them from the old flasher unit.
