Hi all,

Me again.....ive purchased a electronic 123 ignition and fitted it but the car wont fire now. I have spark on both plugs have tried changing the leads round (in case I installed them wrong)....

I fitted it per the instructions...starting from top dead centre on per the crank case and pulley marks, ensured that the rotor are was pointing to cylinder one (which I understand is the nearest on to you looking at the engine from the back).

Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks.

Which 123 have you got? The complete distributor body or the one that connects to the existing distributor? Also one of your previous posts mention that the car has a 1983 650 engine with an “electric distributor upgrade”. What sort of ignition and coil did it have before the 123 upgrade? Is it a twin coil and the distributor with no cap? Pictures would probably help best.

Thanks Tony, got it all sorted! i was using the wrong mark for TDC, once installed with correct TDC it started up....couldnt make it up!

Need to do the tappet spacing (valve clearences) now.....do the valves go 1 2 3 4, with 1 being the first valve you come to?? The haynes manual sets out when to set the clearances but doesn't say which valve is which! Cheers
