Probably about as fair as you're going to find for an original one.

Re: Jack

Wow that's overpriced! They've made millions - literally millions of them. I would trawl EBay - 500 classic - 126 - 124 - 128 or EBay italy always has quite a few.

Re: Jack

Any original 500 jack that I have had was always finished in Matt finish green paint. When I tried a 126 jack on my 500 the arm, that slotted into the bodywork under the sill, was way too big and needed a serious amount of angle grinding to sort out.

Better than better, that's excellent.

Hold on Bryan, having seen Andrew's generosity in the past, he'll be sending one to you.

My original 1972 500s all had black jacks.

Re: Jack

That one from Ricambio is for a 126. I have one of those and as pointed out it takes some grinding to get it to fit a 500

Re: Jack

Some of the jacks are advertised as fitting a wide selection of Fiat models.
Be careful, as there are differences. Colour, height, length of lifting peg/arm,
shape/size of lifting peg, detail differences in handle knobs and foot plate etc.

Plus, will it fit in the space available?
Is originality important to you?

Al.

Re: Jack

Even if they fit - they are probably not the ideal solution.
They place a point load on a known weakness of the car.
A discretely hidden (inside spare wheel?) bottle jack is preferable and use more suitable lifting points.
Purely from "looking correct" I have fitted one along with a period correct toolkit - neither will probably be used in anger...........

Re: Jack

Yes I think you may be right I have a jack which is to short but would look ok.
Then put a bottle jack in as you say. It would be the cheapest and best solution .

Thanks for the help guys Bryan

I am missing the original jack but I definitely wouldn't use it if I had one for the reasons that Andrew mentions; despite my car actually being very solid at the original jacking points.
I wouldn't have a jack just for show as it's just extra weight. Same when I found an original toolkit, I threw out all the duplicated spanner sizes I was carrying. I have a new bottle-jack from Toolstation that cost peanuts, but I need to use some flat blocks of wood to feel safe with it. I only changed a puncture once by the road and it was a bit dodgy finding a good place to contact the underneath of the car. So I'm going for a cheapo, lightweight trolley-jack. They come in a nice case in which you can fit bits of additional tools and spares. At a push, you could do a lot more than just change a wheel with a trolley-jack.
