Hello All,
I have a 1981 Lancia Zagato (Lancia Beta convertible) It has a Fiat 2.0 FI Bosch Fuel Injection. The problem I am having is the car will not run on its own, it starts for a second or 2 then stops. I can keep it running by spraying starting fluid in the air flow meter and sounds smooth and strong. However it seems that the fuel is not getting into the cylinders

Work I have done: The car had been sitting in a garage for 4 years without being started before I purchased it. I have removed fuel tank, flushed fuel lines, replaced fuel injectors, new fuel pump and filter, battery, spark plugs, and much other work and testing. I can hear The fuel pump turn on when I open flap door inside air flow meter. there is fuel pressure on the rail. My ohm meter is broken so I am not sure about the thermo time switch, or the temperature sensor next to it, or the big double relay in the engine compartment... Think the car starts only because the cold start injector gives a little fuel, but never runs on its own without starting fluid..? Two of the Italian car shops I used in the 1990's are both gone, and I can not spend much anyways..located in Menifee, ca 92584. Getting very frustrated, I dont know what to do...:confused::(

Hi,
Is this engine fitted with the Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical FI system?
Things to check are fuel pressure and for blockage or possibly air or vapour lock in the injector lines. A injector flow check would be good too.

Yes it is K-jet tronic but not mechanical, the fuel pressure is strong, i dont think it has air in system...

I use my volt meter to check power to the injectors, while turning the engine over I am getting .25 to 1 volt at injector plug.

Bosch L jet.
injectors should all have a 12v feed with ignition on. The ecu switches the negative connection of all injectors to ground to open the injectors.
You need a working ohm meter.
