Just wondering what some of you other FiatForum-ers think fo the new Ford Ka...

Seems like Ford are starting to take the mini segment more serious and in terms of value-for-money this is another car that will probably steal many people away from a 500 or Panda..

I must admit it's a good price, nice (but common) looking car [albeit most people like this]... Whether or not I'd buy one over a Fiat, well by the time I have that choice the Ka+ will be due a facelift and the next gen Panda and 500 will have been born... Personally I think it's a decent alternative, should the 500/Panda go in the wrong direction [bigger, more German looking...] but what I cannot see is enjoying the Ka+ even with its features as I can't find any non Fiat supermini that has the character and the feel of even my current Panda (169)..

What are your thoughts?

My opinion would be it's a "that'll do" car. It's built in India on the current fiesta platform to be cheap, mainly there so when Ford ramp up the Fiesta pricing at the next gen they have something to offer current bottom end Fiesta owners.

I'm imagining it'll be not hugely safe, given their stated goal is to be as safe as a current fiesta...a car released in 2009 and pretty crap to be in given it'll be built down to a price in India...

I'm thinking more Dacia Sandero or Suzuki Celerio than baby fiesta.

The feature package is quite good, as much as I like Dacia, I can't see the Laureatte models competing with even the entry Ka+ proposal. As for Suzuki, I used to like the Jimny but was put off by price and a test drive.. I think the Celerio is very weak for its position in the market, I admired the little Alto it replaced but the new one doesn't seem to work for me.. It's got a good feature set for the price though, and its selling very well as I see them everywhere!

Lancia Ypsillon all the way for me..

we've had a 58 plate focus for a while,
ok - but that KA is living up to it's old "Ka'k" moniker
poor effort

Just took a quick look online at that car, since it's a Fiat brand I wanted to like it, but *so far* the looks don't sit with me [personal taste, I know] but most shocking of all I seen the safety rating

How?! :O

These are all my opinions, so sorry if it sounds rude or provoking, I don't mean it to seem that way, just want to promote good discussion

the 2015 panda is 3 star - as is the BMW Z4..

the image you've found is ODD..
I liked these = https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=l...=isch&q=lancia+ypsillon&imgrc=oxxrjHL_9H5PEM:

I wasn't saying they were better alternatives I was more of the opinion the Ka + is similar vehicle I.e. not a top class vehicle a one built primarily to be cheap not class leading.

Personally I'd go for a used car with better spec although which one you'd like is your shout.
