sorry for posting this here but ithought id ask incase anyone knows the law for animals,

At 2:05 am iheard a loud crunch outside my house, sadly it was a speeding car
taking out a defenceless cat, (Bengal) iran out with a sheet/blankets to move the poor thing expecting it to be a gone a. :(

but it was still trying to get up even with most of insides on the outside,
to the shock horror the poor thing was having kittens. as igot it off the ground kittens was making there way out..and inoticed 2 kittens on the other side of the road, igot the poor thing and the kittens inside into the warmth
after over 35 attempts someone answerd from the RSPCA...to a reply of sorry we have no vets this time in the morning
the police didnt want to know, sadly only 1 of the kittens has survived so far,

anyone know if this is right..surely they shouid have emergency vets for animals 24hrs aday.. ?

ieven contacted another vet' private.. iwouid of payed for them to come out,
no joy there just an emergency website which directed me to a number to call at the cost of 3.85 per minute this was just for advice.. ffs theives :bang:

tried contacting my own vets that ive have for my dog (retired racing greyhound) not open until 8am, :bang:

There are emergency vets for farm animals, the 999 service includes them, because these have a monetary value to the farmer, and to us as food. Indeed, the response time for a visit to an endangered farm animal is shorter than to a human, if my memory serves me right the response (telephone) for a sick human is one hour, but half that for a sick farm animal!

Domestic pets don't count. If you hit a dog on the road, however, you are expected to report it, but not a cat.
Cats don't count in law, although wilful cruelty is illegal and punishable.

(Did the cat not have a collar with contact number on?)

^ 'no sadly no collar so ipresume it wont have a micro chip either,

her kitten is still alive and doing well, my wife and kids are taking turn's feeding him/her. ive lost faith in the RSPCA now, they wont be getting anymore donations from me,

rspca are useless they probably just didnt want the bill.

did they not even give you the number for http://www.vets-now.com/

itried that link dave,
nearest vet was 38-45 miles away, iwouid of taken her there without a doubt but the poor thing two broken legs, /pelvis
and some of its internals was on the outside, so travelling with her wouid of caused more stress/and pain for the poor thing,
im just miffed that theres no one on call for animal's ..this poor thing needed P.T.S :(

Just waisted more money on phone call's.

Recorded message is all im getting,

RSPCA dont help or collect healthy kitten's.
if you see abandoned kittens leave them alone,

that was the message igot, ffs words fail me,

so it looks like the kitten is our problem now, and they just dont want to know,

perhaps if iget someone to phone them (pork pies) and report me for cruelty to animals
they might come out...

Have you contacted the Cats protection league? If feeding it yourselves you can get a cat milk substitute from most pet shops, goats milk is a good alternative, after every feeding stimulate its bowels gently with a damp cotton bud

Put a picture up of the kitten and we can all use our collective Facebook Twitter etc to see if we can find someone to help, cats are very social animals and without a mother the little sod will likely grow up to have a lot of issues, if we can find someone used to looking after abandoned kittens it might stand a better chance, maybe someone with a cat who has recently had a litter might be able to get mummy cat to adopt it to her litter

Hi,
ihave a adult cat, hes took to the kitten, so im sure he will show it the Ropes.
main thing is getting it through the tough 3-4 weeks,

at the minute its all good,
been out and bought kitten milk in for it, on a trip out tonight ispotted a RSPCA shop, iwas half tempted to post them a Accrington brick, and not through the letter box, these feckers have got me wound up now, :(

sounds like its going to be better off with you with a bit of support you are getting from others
