i got a old uno 1301 . now taking it apart and rebuilding the car.
what mods can i put on the 1301 engine ? can i use 1300 turbo engine inlet
to increase power ? (up to 90 bhp)
any good ideas ?

i prefer not to make it air foreced engine. but any thing is possible.
any ideas???
thanks

I have messed about with the little sohc fiat engine in my 3p's , unos etc. Depending on how far you want to go, easy mods can be made to reach 90-100bhp, more involved mods can see 130bhp plus. If it is just a fast/fun road car that you want, I would suggest using a piper 285 or kent fast road cam or similar (even 128 3p cam was higher lift) This is an easy and worthwhile mod, together with using a weber 34dmtr found on 1500 x1/9's, strada 85's etc, plus free flowing exhaust. These mods alone will get you from the standard 70bhp up to 90 bhp+. After that, head work (inc comp ratio a tad, bigger valves available from various sources) you can go on and on but it starts to get expensive! If you just go for cam, carb and exhaust mods, you are looking at a few hundred pounds to get good useable power in return!! Or you could just bolt in the 1500 strada/x1/9 engine and have instantly more torque and power of course!!

Or you could fit the 1600 engine from the later Tipo, as it was based on the 1500/ 1300/ 1100 engine. 85bhp with no other work (y)

The 1300 is a very tuneable engine as Unoracer has rightly pointed out. For a decent road engine 90 - 100bhp would be sufficient as anything over is going to become a bit peaky for every day driving.

Have you any pictures of your car?

thank you all .
will add pic soon . probably start with the cam and carb as it's the best result for small money. now after taking the engine apart . i have started cleaning the parts and rebuilding the head (larger pistons and porting ) .
will update you for any progress.

If you need some new pistons, I have a few sets! I will have to check the oversizes on them, so let me know if you have trouble getting any locally.

I don't know whether other people have heard this, but over the years I have been told by a few seperate sources that the tipo 1600 variation of the engine is not as tough as the 1300 and 1500 version? I am no mechanic, but I wonder whether it is because the cylinder walls are thinner, and not having quite the same 'square' design stroke v bore???

The walls are a lot thicker, you're right. Not sure how easy it is to crack/warp an NA 100-130 bhp unit though...
