hi, anyone know why my uno 1100cc is being starved of fuel when on motorway after 10 min or so the speed slowly drops. if i stop for 5 min and turn off engine its ok again. round town is ok although on tickover the engine "hunts" [speed varies on tickover, up and down almost as if its being turned off and on].
jets have been blown through and petrol cap removed

ive heard of this fault on other uno's too , it seems its definatly a fuel problem but its got me this time...thanks mark

Hei.

It might be a blown head gasket. Has your Uno been using very much coolant lately?

What does "tickover" mean? Just don't know the word...

could the fuel in the line be being vapourised?why are you sure its fuel?have you already done the usual checks on plugs,ht,distributer cap etc ?i had similar probs with two 5 gt turbos on 1 it was fuel vapourisation although that was with the turbos extra heat and the other had a hairline crack in the distrib capB)

well...ive done the usuall checks ..plugs , checked distributer cap tracking etc. i find that when i pull choke out a bit it overcomes the "hunting" problem, this tells me that its fuel. i will check for fuel vaporization..guess its not as common a problem as i thought, but this the 3rd uno to do it [the dieing at speed bit]

Long shot this..do you have the original air box and hot & cold air ducts in place if not in some conditions you could get icing in the carb or inlet body.....just a thought.
