I got a '87 Uno 45s.
I'm installing a Punto mk1 1.2 60hp engine in it.
The old 999cc got a carburator, i will use the Punto Loom and Punto SPI + inition.

Most punto looms are secured with an immobilizer, also for my case, so i did get a tuning chip including immobilizer remover. I bought it from a guy in Israel. Was about 30eur incl shipping.

I got a P75 (punto 1.2 8v 75hp) engine and loom as well but so far no immobilizer found.

Ordered a waterpump cambelt(15x108) tensioner and thermostat (65eur as set on ebay)

Yesterday disconnected and removed the engine and gearbox.

Note i have the old uno mk1 gearbox with the 2controls under the car, uno mk2 have the 3controls through the firewall, i think this is the same type as punto mk1. Punto mk2 is again a newer type.

I did read the 1242 block is a bit fatter and you should grind off a bit from the block.

the middle bolt doesnt fit! (P60 engine, P60 starter, Uno-plate) > hope this works and match
(i've seen the flywheels are pretty much the same, the clutches are diffrent size, P60 is bigger, diffrence for the flywheel is only the surface where the clutchplate matches. I think the clutch will work in the older type gearbox)

pattern is a bit diffrent

I hope i can fit the P60starter with just 2bolts without grinding.

Hi, i've done the exact same swap but in a mk2 uno, i used the uno starter and had to grind a little from the block of the p60. do not use the p60 started as it is hassle that can be sorted easily by using uno starter.

the punto 75 engine block is stronger than the 60 but the 75 is an mpi so youi will either have to fit a 60 or 55 head to the 75 block or use an spi throttle body on the mpi manifold as the bolt holes on the mpi and spi heads are in different places, if you are using a new loom and ecu etc then why not just go full mpi instread of using spi?

That is what makes the power difference between p60 1242 and p75 1242. surely all the work you are doing it would be better to start off with the more powerful engine.

Good luck, need any help then let me know mate.

EssexUno you did a great job!

I didnt grind the block but simple used the P60 starter with just 2 bolts.

I know it looks stupid to do a engine swap including the wiring harnas.
I have an uno turbo in my garage.
My previous daily ride was a alfa 156 1.9jtd, bmw 320da 2003 and a Volvo v50 2007.
But now I just love driving the fiat uno 45s daily.
I replaced the 1.0 becouse i have some spare parts from the punto fire.

update, while the gearbox isnt realy the best quality, i mis-shifted and my 2nd gear blow.
So i installed a punto75 gearbox including the controllers from the uno mk2.

I also installed the P75 cam marked '866'.

pictures will come later...

I hope i can get my hands on a tricker 40mm (P60) or 43mm (P75) TB.

Greetz, Benjamin
