(S) Mk1 Spotlight Grill and Bonnet Scoop. Comments please!

Hi all,

I've trial fitted the spotlight grill and bonnet vent scoop to my mk1 to see what they look like. Attached are pictures before and after.

Before anyone comments, yes, I know I need to finish cutting and polishing that strip on the bonnet! And yes, those steel wheels look grotty, but I still haven't got round to refurbishing the X1/9 alloys. I do have two freshly painted standard steels, so now winter is gone I will probably fit those for the time being. Also, the front bumper is a scruffy old one, as my good bumper is awaiting repainting. So many things to do and so little time!

Anyway, I've decided that I like the vent scoop afterall. It's not too boyracer'ish, and when freshly painted red to match the rest of the car it should look quite subtle.

However, I can't make my mind up with the front grill. Originally I thought if it were body colour it would look too garish, almost Lego Brick like! However, when I fitted it (it was almost the same colour as my Uno) it looked kind of, erm, ok!

I also did a quick retouch in Photoshop to see what it looked like in black. Now I don't know which to choose! I think I'm leaning more towards black as it's more subtle.

What does everyone else think? Comments please!

about the colour i belive that black grill is better but try ti paint red the souround of the spot light (the plastic that extruding from the grill i hope you understand what i am saying.

Id say definitely red. Makes the front end look more up-to-date.

i'd say red mate. looks good too! also the uno turbo mk1's had colour coded grill so it looks more like auno turbo with it red

Hey Chas, the scoop looks real good so i guess i wont be getting my hands on that now lol oh well never mind. With regards to the grille i prefer the red one to be honest. What else you planning on doing to the car then???

Sorry about the delayed response - I'd say RED too - for the classic Uno Turbo look

LOL I wonder what a red scoop would look like on a White Turbo Look alike - Just kidding Frosty you asked first

Louie, for that matter, why not paint the scoop Green, White, AND Red!

Chas, I like the black grille, but I have another idea (opposite to cm246): you could paint the surround of the auxiliary lights black (to make the lights look a bit 'smaller') and leave the rest of the grille in red...

Oh and maybe if one light was Red, and the other light was Blue...

Also, what a transformation on the bonnet paint - you must have put in lots of elbow-grease if that's 'before' and 'after' left-and-right!

Just a thought but if you like the idea of spraying the grille black then why not spray the scoop black too? Like this uno turbo in the pic attached?

personally, and this is just me, i prefer the foggys/aux lamps under the bumper, looks cleaner and with the 70sx/turbo bumper, more puposeful, just me though

I’m starting to think FIAT never made a 45HP SXIe as there is no badge in their CD ROM. An interesting Suite badge for front wings though.
