Hello guys. I own a 999cc Fiat Uno(Mumbai,India). Very recently i got my silencer changed not from the Fiat workshop(Non-availability of parts) but from a local mechanic. The work done was good. But off late i have been noticing that the transmission tunnel of my car gets heated up quickly. The heat reaches the handbrake and also to the gear. I got it checked from the Fiat service center guys. They claim that my muffler is choked so it leads to the heat inside the cabin (n). Also one more reason being that the guy who replaced the silencer has done away with the heat sheild .
The heat is annoying because on the long runs the seats heat up too.

So gurus please advice

Take it back and ask for your heatshield to be re-fitted at their expense and see that the exhaust pipe isnt running too close to the car body IMO.

Then see if its still an issue before looking at the muffler blockage.

thnx Ffoxy. I will do that. I want to know what material is used for the heat sheild. Since uno parts are not available in this part of the world(India), i am thinking of doing a DIY. If poss aome pics if you do have any.
