Looks like an amazing example of a late Mk1, and in very nice original condition (wheeltrims and everything).

I would have no worries... probably nothing mechanical that can't be fixed easily (except something daft like a caamshaft maybe)...

Obviously it's a matter of taste but I never thought white suited the Tipo too well and the grey velour seats aren't as sporty as the cloth ones my cars had.. this is the SX which was a bit posher.

But for enjoying and showing as a very nice standard, original car,it looks perfect. Looks like it's been garaged / stored and hardly used.

Check underneath very carefully as the underseal fails along the seams and in corners etc, rust soon develops. If you buy it I would suggest you find a garage / bodyshop with ramps that will let you get it up to grind / scrape / brush away all of the factory stuff underneath (bumpers off!) and treat / repair it all ... that and the front subframe are the vulnerable areas in general.

hi,
I had a few back in the day,
NONE of them had a worn seat like that.., so the mileage is looking a little dubious, :(

BUT it DOES look VERY clean and tidy,
they didn't tend to rust up top, just the wheels..!!, and front subframe really copped it for oxidisation. 2 of my 4 TD's went right through.

also be wary of a Trade seller with ZERO feedback,

Back in the day, so same mileage over a few years, don't think that someone getting in and out of the seat daily will cause more wear on a seat than if the owner does one long journey a week equating the same mileage

Why? As you'll know you don't earn feedback if you use classified ads ;)

Probably best sticking to autotrader and using their none existant feedback system

Hi thanks for replies etc I don't think ill find another quite like this I'd have preferred that dark metallic red to be honest but hey ho I secured it for £550 I think that's a fair price what do you guys think

that's a fair price as long as you've seen it and are content,

apart form the "sacrificial anode" corrosion they are pretty tough,

my "MAIN one" did 300K, and the seats were still V good,
other bangers I bought all had around 120K / 150K , and all were sound,

it's a Very tough engine and box on them - untouched in 300k - no clutch, no valve clearances.

the MK2 flies due to the HUGE turbo,
but it was still a much better car than the Marea that replaced it,
Charlie

For a weekend play thing, would a Sedicivalvole not be a better toy?

I've had both, and the Tipo TD SX is surprisingly quick for a 1990s diesel, but the Sedici is a much more exciting car - plus you could get a great one for around that £600 mark.

Silver is indeed the best Tipo colour. Shame I put mine up a kerb and into a lamp post. (n)

The drivers seats to wear a lot with people getting in and out... it may be possible to swap parts from driver to passenger side to even out the wear and tear, or get a car trimmer to make some repairs or patches from hidden parts of the seat cover.

Good purchase, hope you're happy.

lol you beat me too it - I rang him today. Impressed it had front mudflaps to protect grot from attacking the front floorpan edges and original trims. And digi DGT dashboard. I personally didn't think the seat was too worn on the pic, as there is a velcro strip on the foam which causes the line. I would have that rear spoiler off and in the bin thou not a td fitment and will trap the smoke ! If you change your mind let me know !

Talking about toys, I made a 180 km round trip yesterday, to buy a second hand glove box for my Tipo.

For some unknown reason, it was manufactured with only a shelf where the glove box (guantera) normally fits and it'll now celebrate its 23rd birthday as a slightly more complete Tipo. Ö¿Ö

It was only driven 1,000 kms in 2012.

looks like an extremely good buy. word of warning unless the cambelt has been done recently in the last 3 or so years,it would be wise to do it soon
