Hello there.
I have a 2001 seicento sporting mpi, with a misterious coolant issue. I flushed and changed the coolant a couple of months ago, all seemed to be okay, the fan was running less often, the engine was running cooler, great. Then a couple of weeks ago, on switch off I started to hear bubbling. No sign of coolant on the floor, so not physically boiling over. There is a slight hissing from the expansion tank cap, when hot, also condensation on the inside of the expansion tank. The system is pressurising okay. I am losing coolant but no sign of where it is going, no mayonaise in the oil, no spill on the floor.
Could this be just a faulty expansion tank cap?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Phil.

Yeah, just try the cap, only about £5 from the dealer. I wouldn't even bother with comp test etc unless you have the stuff already, and even then i would't bother.

If it is overheating and head gasket has gone, it wouldn't have been the cap, but something else. Try the cap first (y)

Make sure its the correct one though, Sei mpi has a higer pressure cap i think?!

Yes, the fan is running fine. It runs, then shuts off when cooled.

Thanks,

Phil
