Hi had a 2000 Seicento sporting Abarth for about 3 years and all in all been fine bar usual clutch cable and wear and tear items. Bought it for the daughter. The other day she came home saying the key code on the dash was on.
I went out to have a look and the car would not start, but key code did go ou after a few seconds as usual. The rev counter was flicking up and down, and a tapping noise could be heard coming from under the bonnet. I traced this to the red relay by the ECU which i believe is the immobiliser relay. I changed this and it was fine for a day then same again. On reading a thread from the site someone mentioned a similar problem with an earth cable from the left inner wing to the gearbox. I gave this a wiggle and it was frayed and came away. On pushing it back in the tapping noise and erratic rev counter had stopped and the car turned over but would not fire up. I have replaced the cable and charged the battery but the car turns over but will not fire.
The fuel pump is priming and fuel coming through. The code light on the dash for the immobiliser is not going out after a few seconds as it did before. I have checked the fuses and all are okay even ones by battery.
It seems that since the cable the car seems to have immobilised itself. I have the two blue keys with 2 on them so believe this gen2 no red key required. Both keys worked prior to this.
Basically any ideas how to get it going as i have checked all i can think of. Thanks
