Technical Y reg Fiat Punto 1.2 Engine Management Light Problem!

The engine management light in my Punto has been on solidly, not flashing, for about a month. It has problems starting sometimes and cuts out when stationary. Other times it can run perfect. It is not the first time I have this problem. It happened before and I took to a Fiat garage they ran some tests and found a problem with the CAT and inlet manifold, so manifold was replaced and for a few days it ran fine, then it cut out and the light appeared again. I have also had the battery changed.

Has anyone encountered the same problem? Can anyone help!?!?

could be a lambda sensor, or were these replaced with the manifold?

Yeah my mate said that about the lambda sensor but have not investigated it an dont know if they were supplied with the manifold.

Get the fault code read and take it from there, anything else is guesswork.

How do I go about getting the fault code and reading it? Sorry I dont really know a lot about cars! haha

take it to a decent garage, they will have a code reader, wont take long.... some garages dont even charge, others charge £15-35

my mate has this problem at the moment, he said his code is flagging up a problem with the cat but he put it on the emmissions test and it passed easily, hes reset the light and give him some fuel additive to try and clean it out
