Hi All,
does anyone have a link to a workshop manual download for the '96 to '01 Ducato? I can't find one on Ebay.

I need to see the correct procedure for setting the preload on the rear wheel bearings as even though I've set them according to Timken
the local test center fails them for excessive play.
Thanks.
Torq.

P.S. I've checked all the previous threads and there is no conclusive answer.

Any help?

Thanks @ben it's been so long since I was a regular here that your download didn't exist back then. It's exactly what I'm looking for.

In my younger days we used to check the adjustment Land Rover wheel bearings by checking for movement at the wheel circumference. As I recall a movement of upto 1.5mm was condidered acceptable. A trace of movement is essential, but anything greater than the estimated 1,5mm or 1/16" at the circumference was unacceptable.. I wonder the 1.5mm at the circumference relates to the 0.1mm at the hub? Developing a sense of how a correctly adjusted wheel bearing should feel at the circumference would make future assessments simpler.

This is the test criteria that they work off so it's subjective as to what 'excessive' means.

The only way to get through is to tighten so there is no movement at all. Coincidentally I'm rebuilding a '91 110 Defender from the ground up amongst a few (too many) other projects.

In my humble opinion "no movement at all" is verging on too tight. The manual gives a lowest reading of 0.025mm (0.001") at the hub.
