hi, since the winter my fan belt has been wurring while the engine is still cold. i've had it checked and it's not stretched. someone told me putting talcum powder on it can get rid of this? not sure if its a good idea though. any ideas would be a great help

John

You may need a new fanbelt. I had the self same thing on my van, I changed the fan belt for a brand new one and it stopped making the annoying noise. i checked the old and new belts and they were practically the same size. All i can think is the belts get glazed after a while.

alright ta. is it difficult to change the fan belt on the bravo? if so is the talcum powder method worth trying?

John

Not sure how well talc will be against it snapping and wrapping around your cambelt and destroying the engine.

hmmm, and the wurring noise is what happens before it does this??

Well my head has been fooked by an auxilliary belt fraying and strands of this belt getting caught in the cambelt housing.
A few quid on a belt compared to a repair in excess of £1000.

Worst case scenario obviously, but it's not worth the risk.

shite. well i asked the bloke at the garage to have a look but he said nothing was wrong with it. how difficult is it to fit yourself?

John
