General WTF! My Coupe is over revving???

Hi Eveyone,

Could be that cos she is in the sun in the early part of the day that it is overheating? :bang: Was told turbos hate warm, humid weather which would explain why it drives sooo much better at night.

When i fire the engine up the revs jus keep going to over 4000 which frankly is embarrasing to say the least. Sometimes the car is fine until about an hour into driving and i wil lbe going down the road and 'wham' the same thing happens the revs shoot up which is a scary thing when you approching a busy junction!

Any ideas would be much welcome cos i luv her and its drivin me maaad .

more likely a dodgy idle valve (whatever system the coop uses)

Right, Had a fiddle in the engine bay and looked at the plastic screw-type mechanism that joins in the accelerator cable half way through towards the rear of the engine and dash (unsure of the technical name) and i presume it allows the tension to be adjusted on the cable as i spun it one way and it slackened a bit then tried the other and it seemed to tighten more. So i started her up and the idle dropped right down from 4000 revs to about 800 where it should be so for now it seemes to have worked fingers crossed. :slayer:
