first of all i bought eibach anti roll bars and was quoted £20 fitting. so i put my car into the garage to have them fitted along with a new starter motor [also quoted £20 fitting] and cam belt and tensioners to be done [140+vat]. i come back to the garage 8 hours later to find he had not done any of the work!
the cam belt was not done as the supplier sent a 1.4 belt, the starter was not done as he found it was more like a 4hour+ job rather than a 1hour job he originally thought and also the anti roll bars were a 4hour job at least!
so i had to book the car in again a week later!
1 week later he fits the starter and the cambelt coming to the grand total of £300.80! [this did not include the price of the starter motor just fitting].
i leave the garage, cars running great...
next day [wednesday] i start the car fine, drive about 1/2 a mile, stop the car to go shop, get back in and when i turn the key the engine did not start but the starter motor carry's on spinning! then comes smoke
[ so i dissconect the battery and phone the mechanic, he tells me the ignition barrel must have locked the starter on! then he comes to tow me to his garage only to discover i do not have the tow winch!
so he gives me a number of a breakdown recovery... they arrive only to tell me the car is too low to get up the ramp[. then luckily a fella pulls up over the road in a bravo, so i asked him if i could borrow his towing winch! eh borrows it to me, gets towed to garage-sorted.
then i needed to get to halfords to get a refund on my old starter motor, so i borrows my dads car and sets off... less than half a mile away im turning left out of a junction and some arse mounts the kerb to undertake me! and i pull into his car[
his fault, but im not insured on my dads car [yes i know] so we agreed it was both our fault's and he's paying for his damage and vice versa.
any sympathy would be much appreciated...
ps 300quid to FIT a starter and cam belt change [including belt and tensioners] have i been ripped off????????
