We have just bought another Stilo and it has a Fiat fitted sub already installed. Its ok but not as good as one we already have, so my question is about the wiring. I have attached pictures, is it possible to take out the one thats already in there and put a different one in without having to redo all the wiring. The one thats in the car already has different plugs on it, can you buy adaptors?

No not really. It will be more effort than its worth. Best to just put the old wires back through the new car.
Does the amp inside run the speakers on non Abarth models?

Dors the Stereo work with the Sub unplugged. Its not a big issue if it doesnt work.
I just did this for when i havnt got external amps working and i still want sounds.... Hmm i cant see the pic anywhere.

Basically its very easy to take the amp out of the sub case and just place it inbetween the wheel arch and cluster area. Then you can get rid of the sub box and save some space.

Hi stu

Is the sub the orange wire (orange and white maybe its dark right now lol), using its own yellow connector (sorry i dont have a picture), that plug into the fiat head unit. It along with another wire that i assume is for the microphone are the only 2 wires i dont have in my other stilo. When it is not plugged in the stereo does not work (no sound). I can't use my sony head unit either because there is no way to plug this into it and i dont particularly want to break the yellow plastic, as i wont be able to use the fiat unit either... grrr annoying.

Is there a work around for this? As my mum said the fiat sub works well, but it doesn't exactly have any uumph!

Yes the yellow mini iso plugs into the remote out of the oe head unit. As a temporary measure i pulled the pin of the aftermarket remote out and wedged it into the mini yellow one. This will tell the amp inside the sub enclosure to turn on. The sub itself never worked after i did that for some reason.
I could be wrong but i think the amp redeligates the power from the sub to the rest of the speakers up front and in the back, so i found i actually prefered the sound without the sub.

one thing that you should consider is the amp is designed to work with the power that the standard head units amp gave it. Your sony in theory is more powerful therfor the gain will be wrong and it could clip the amp. Just dont start puting + figures on the bass and you should be fine.

ah cool that should be easy enough to get it working at least

does that mean i cant use my sub/amp though because it has to be wired to the built in one from the head unit, or is there someway it can be used in conjunction with or instead of the fiat amp?
