Ive just been out and brought a Linksys Wireless G Router and a Linksys Wireless G adapter.

The setup is as such :

Router is connect direct to the phone line. Computer 1 (which i am configuring from) is correct direct to the router via ethernet. Computer 2 is where the wireless adapter is installed and will connect wirelessly.

The Router is setup and configured as per the setup program and is running and providing the internet to computer 1. Computer 2 can see the router and can connect to it with a very good (80%) wireless connection. However, computer 2 cannot recieve the internet.

I know the net connection is working (im using computer 1 via the router to type this) and i know the router is recieving and distributing it but computer 2 cannot see it. It can see and connect to the router but cant access the net.

So somehow, the router is only suppying the net via ethernet and not wireless... either that or the wireless computer is connecting incorrectly

Anyone any ideas what I should be looking at?

On Computer 2, double click the wireless icon, select the support tab. What does it say in the support tab?

not sure but i know it cant attain an ip address etc.

ive just disconnected computer 1 from the ethernet and setup the wireless adapter. Computer 1 CAN connect via wireless on to the route SO its not a problem with the setup of the route. it must be something with the config on computer 2... which im confued with as i did exactly the same on that, that i did this to install the wireless adapter

No but ive got it working.. using a different network adapter

i reinstalled windows (was a barebones system with just windows on anyway) to reset any settings and things i had changed. Then when it started up for the first time, the built in wireless adapter managed to connect straight to the wireless router, no problems! I reinstalled the new Linksys usb adapter and it still connected to the router but couldnt connect to the net... So ive put it back in the box and ill take it back to PC world sometime this week:p

Im posting this from computer 2 using the built in wireless adapter (y)

knew i should have used it in the first place but thought, no, ill buy everything i need new from the same company to make sure its all compatible...(n) Ah well. strange as the adapter does work... I used it on computer 1 and it connected to the router no probs.. must just not like this computer

USB network adapters tend to be not very good in my experience.
