Anyone got one, I'm guessing I need -

Video capture card , camera's and reciever's and a decent pc with big hdd

How much am I looking to spend? , had a look on ebay, without the pc is comes in at just under £200. It doesnt have to be top of the range or bullet proof

Is it possible to put a camera up in my garage a couple of miles away and be able to view it?

Thanks(y)

couple of miles um not really without having power, internet etc at the garage me thinks.
you can get the cards quite cheaply and make sure the cameras are the kind with various frequences.
the ones with random frequencies cant be used together

best way would be with an IP camera... then you can view it from any pc in the world (Assuming you have an internet connection) (y)

seen a 4 camera card for around £25

frequencies  , you mean for the wireless bits? , will probably get 4 of the same, well maybe a higher spec one for the front of the house

i may be able to persuede my mate to let me use his internet connection, not sure i would want a computer in there though

No need for net connection, either. And it's wireless, with no need for frequency adjustments. No pc, or HDD, no camera cards.....my god, you'll save a fortune! Just feed the pitbull one burglar a week and he will be happy! :D

Rhodesian Ridgebacks better than a Pit Bull
No Lions to worry about either
