General Wipers

Hi everyone

I'm half way through driving some 80 miles and had to stop due to my wipers acting up. It's raining heavy and badly need them, they don't seem to be working on the normal and slow setting. When I set it to fast, they only work when I manually move the wiper up and down the windscreen but will occasionally stop by themselves.

The wipers have never done this before and it's quiet worrying overtaking traffic at 70 in rain.

Is there anything I can do to temporarily fix them until I get to the nearest city and search for a garage?

Sounds like the motors are on there way out. I had this on my old punto. Wouldn't work on their own, but would work when i gave them a little encouragement.

Might be worth doing a search. I think there's been issues in the past with grease inside the motor getting onto contacts or some such...

Most likely the motor is over greased which is confusing the sensors.

I will have a search right now.

I got to my destination, after having to pull up on the hard shoulder a number of times to push start the wipers. Ironically, as I got home, the wipers began working perfectly but I certainly can't risk something like that happening again as not being able to see is a frightening experience.
