My driver side wiper has too much travel, it lifts up over the windscreen shield and over the side of the car, pretty sure i have the right sized blades though..
Anything i can do to sort it out?
Cheers

is it swinging not far enough at the bottom too? it might just need adjusting. to adjust it, open the plastic cover at the end, and loosen the securing nut. its held in place on a tapered, splined shaft. posistion the arm where it needs to be and retighten the nut.

Aaah rightee, sounds simple enough. How far up the window should it be when the wipers are off? Or is it just a matter of playing around with positions until it doesnt hit the seal?

If you loosen the nut in the park position then move the wiper arm a few splines down and like you say it is trial and error, also check the arm securing nut is nice and tight too.

MIne is doing the same!

Where it was going out too far and coming back it removed some rubber & scratched the screen with it...

I already tried to adjust it. It then stopped at the right place but after some "wipes" its swinging out too far again. It's impossible to tighten thw nut any better.

With mine it looks like the little "ribs" on the bolt and on the wiper arm are worn.

do you have the washer in place still?

I noticed on my mates car, it has little markers on the screen where to he blades should sit when parked. how nice!

i don't think a new washer will help.

It's the "ribs" on the bolt of the wiper motor and the "ribs" in the hole of the wiper arm that are worn/almost non existant.

Well, i've got mine sorted.. Pretty much. it taps on the seal, but if i move it any lower it hits the seal at the bottom of the window.. Will hitting the seal cause any problems? I'm definate i have the right blades.

Mine goes too low and too far!

It bangs on the passenger wiper at the bottom then goes off the screen on the drivers side. I think the whole mechanism is worn as there is loads of play in it.

Mine does exactly the same as Horneys.

although since I moved it that much down so it taps the passanger wiper, it just stops before the seal. something like 3mm.

@ horney, check the arm securing nut whilst your there, it takes a wee bit of fiddling to get it right i.e. move and try, move and try and so on.
